Michel Kafando appointed as transitional president of Burkina Faso
November 17 , 2014
Michel Kafando, the former foreign minister, has been named as the transitional president of Burkina Faso as the country navigates a tricky road back to democracy after a brief period of military rule, media reports say.
Kafando has been chosen in accordance with a broad-based agreement reached by leaders from the military, political establishment, and civil society after President Blaise Compaore was forced to resign last month in wake of mass protests.
The army has been in charge since then.
