MH17: Malaysia in favor of international criminal tribunal
July 3 , 2015
Malaysia has indicated that it is in favor of setting up an international criminal tribunal for prosecuting the people suspected of shooting down flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine a year ago.
All 298 people on board the Malaysia Airlines plane were killed. The aircraft was flying over areas under control of pro-Russia separatists when it was brought down. Most of the victims were Dutch nationals.
The plan is a joint proposal by the Netherlands, Australia, Ukraine, Belgium, and Malaysia, reports say.
Russia has, however, described the plan as untimely and “counterproductive.”
