Mexico Recount Confirms Pena Nieto Victory
July 6 , 2012
Pena Nieto of Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party (PIR) has officially won, said the recount of the presidential election ballot. The presidential elections were held on Sunday and upon the insistence of the Party of the Democratic Revolution candidate, López Obrador, over half the ballots were recounted. 99% of the votes cast were counted and over half recounted as Nieto had 38.2% votes and López Obrador 31%. Ruling conservative National Action Party candidate, Josefina Vazquez Mota stood third in the vote count. López Obrador, however, persisted with his allegations that the PIR had engaged in vote-buying.
