August 30 , 2017
In the light of the US President Trump's three threats to abandon North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Mexico is preparing a plan for this eventuality. Donald Trump has vowed to get better deals for American workers and has already threatened to abandon NAFTA three times. On Monday, Trump renewed his threat to abandon NAFTA. In an interview, the economic minister Guajardo said, “We have to be more than ready for a plan-B.” At a meeting with senators in Mexico City, Ildefonso Guajardo said, “This is not going to be easy” and “the start of the talks is like a roller coaster.” To seek more opening in trade markets, Mexico is holding trade talks with Brazil.
