Mexico: Gunmen target military helicopter as violence erupts in Jalisco; seven killed
May 2 , 2015
Gunmen targeted a military helicopter in Mexico, killing three troops and forcing it to land as a wave of violence erupted in the western Jalisco state after a military operation was launched against drug gangs.
Four more people died amid gunfire and firebomb attacks, with suspected drug cartel members blocking highways in state capital Guadalajara and other places. Banks and gas stations were also attacked.
Aristoteles Sandoval, the governor of Jalisco, said that the violence was a reaction to the state’s anti-cartel operation.
