Metro-North train crash injures 60
May 18 , 2013
Two Metro-North trains collided injuring around 60 people, 5 of them critically.
Around 6.10 pm local time, an eastbound Metro-North derailed and crashed into another Metro-North that was running in the opposite direction.
Connectivity via metro rail from New York to Boston has been suspended. The ensuing logjam could take weeks to clear as the trains affected by the incident will take time to repair.
The Metro-North runs between NYC and northern suburbs in New York and Connecticut.
An investigation led by the National Transportation Security Board is expected.
"We have no reason to think it was anything other than an accident, but that has to be explored," Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy said.
