Merkel-Putin Discussed about Syria, Ukraine, Iran, and Controversial Gas Pipeline
August 19 , 2018
German Chancellor Angela Merkel had tough talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin outside Berlin (at German government’s Meseburg castle) regarding the conflicts in Syria, Ukraine, and Iran. The two world leaders also reportedly talked about the controversial Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project that the US and Ukraine are complaining about. During a press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that both Genran and Russian leaders view the gas project to be purely commercial. Both the leaders also discussed the humanitarian issues including the plight of refugees that have cropped up due to the 7-year old war in Syria.
