Maya Bay of Thailand to Stay Closed Indefinitely
October 5 , 2018
Thailand's "Maya Bay", a popular tourist destination for its towering limestone cliffs and creamy white shores, has been closed indefinitely. It was made famous by the Leonardo DiCaprio starrer movie "The Beach" in 2000. Earlier, it was on a tourist ban but was expected to reopen in October. However, the latest announcement from DNP (Department of National Parks) of the country has put the opening of the popular day-trip destination on hold.
Since June 1 of this month, it has been off-limits to tourists as it was to undergo a 4-month long rejuvenation program which would revive its decimated corals.
