Massive Landslide in China's Sichuan Province Kills 15, Over 120 Still Buried Under Debris

  • A massive landslide in Sichuan province of China killed over 15 people and buried over 120 people in debris. Geological experts have reportedly said that the survival chances of the people trapped under debris is slim. The deadly landslide took place in a remote village named Xinmo, where over 60 homes are believed to be covered under rubble and mud. Per Xinhua (official state news agency of China), a 800 metres debris slid down a steep slope, blocking a 2km river stretch and 1.6km of road. Rescue effort, involving over 1000 rescue workers and 100 medical staffs, is carried on currently.
