Massive Landslide Causes Death and Destruction on Eve of Presidential Election

Torrential rain in Chile caused a massive landslide, reportedly causing the death of at least 5 people in Southern part of Chile. The landslide also destroyed dozens of houses. Reports say 15 people are still missing in a tourist hotspot - Villa Santa Lucía – located in lake region of Chile. In the concerned area, a state of emergency has been declared by President Michelle Bachelet. He also said that rescue workers have been ordered to protect people of Villa Santa Lucia and utilize all resources to this end. The deadly landslide happened just on eve of the Presidential election. Authorities have reportedly said that the voting is going ahead as per plan.
