Mass grave found in China
December 3 , 2013
Archaeologists have discovered a mass grave of 80 young females in China, the details of which are quite grisly.
Experts believe the women were sacrificed about 4,000 years ago and their skulls buried without their bodies. One archaeologist mentioned that there's evidence they were "hit and burned."
"This collective burial might also have something to do with the founding ceremony of the city," deputy head Sun Zhouyong said.
According to the local media, this is not the first indication of human sacrifice in the country, where servants were often killed and sometimes even buried alive.
Shimao Ruins in the Shaanxi province continues to turn up such discoveries.
