Marori King ignores meeting with Prince William, Kate
March 5 , 2014
New Zealand's Maori king refused to meet with Prince William and wife Kate since they didn't offer him enough time. The couple are expected to be in New Zealand next month along with their son and asked for a meeting with King Tuheitia for 90 minutes. However, his office said 90 minutes isn't long enough for the proper protocols.
"It's rather disappointing," Prime Minister John Key said. He mentioned that the time is quite generous since the royals' program doesn't allow them to be at places for more than an hour.
It also appears that the "faceless bureaucrats" are to be blamed for the situation. "The king was never asked anything," Guardian reported.
