Mark Simmonds, Foreign Office minister in UK, resigns
August 12 , 2014
It has been reported that Mark Simmonds, a foreign office minister in Britain, has stepped down, claiming that his rental allowance was insufficient to maintain a home in Westminster in central London and he was not ready to stay elsewhere in the city.
The African minister’s resignation came after Lady Warsi stepped down from her post in the Foreign Office citing her disagreements with the UK’s Israel policy.
Simmonds said commuting from Westminster to the outer London areas was “not the lifestyle I want and it’s not the lifestyle I have chosen for myself or I want for my family.”
