Marijuana laws loosen in Jamaica
June 14 , 2014
The Jamaican government has finally reformed drug laws and has allowed citizens to possess up to two ounces of ganja. Justice Minister Mark Golding mentioned that the move doesn't intend on approving the use of marijuana for recreation but the goal is to "provide a more enlightened approach to dealing with possession of small quantities" instead.
"Too many of our young people have ended up with criminal convictions after being caught with a 'spliff,' something that has affected their ability to do things like get jobs and get visas to travel overseas," he said.
