Several Killed as Third Blast Rocks Baghdad

  • Yet another deadly bomb blast has rocked Baghdad while claiming at least 48 lives. According to security and medical sources, this is the third blast in the Iraq's capital in past three days.

The blast was carried out in a car packed with explosives near car dealerships in the Shia dominated area of Bayaa. Reportedly close to 50 people have been injured in the blast.

In another attack on Wednesday, around 18 people lost their lives and four people were killed during the blast the day before.

As per reports, the Islamic State group has taken the responsibility of Thursday's blast.

The IS group has spurred its attacks since the Iraqi army in conjunction with US-led coalition strikes, has launched its campaign to dislodge the Sunni militant group from Mosul in the north four months ago.
