Man writes his own obituary in three words
April 14 , 2014
A 92-year-old Swedish man wrote his own obituary and kept things quite short. "I am dead," it read.
Stig Kernell gave instructions regarding his funeral before he died and the funeral home followed through with his requests. However, the short obituary made headlines and forced his sons to write up a longer and more traditional one.
Kernell's family didn't want people to think that any bitterness surrounded his death. "He was a special man with a lot of humor and a twinkle in his eye," one son said. The Swedish man had gained a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest collection of aviation literature. Reports suggest that he was a transport technician and an aerospace historian.
