Man learns to scuba dive in order to look for wife's remains

  • A 57-year-old Japanese man went to the sea in hopes to find the remains of his wife. Yasauo Takamatsu's wife was at her workplace when the tsunami struck back in 2011 and reports suggest that 2,636 people remain missing since the natural disaster.

The woman was 47 at the time of death and has left two children behind. It will take Takamatsu several more dives before he is experienced enough to be able to take part in searches.

The man mentioned that his wife emailed him the same day saying she wanted to go home. "Because I know that, that she feels that way, I want to look for her myself rather than depend on others to do it," he said.
