Man killed as 1,500 migrants try to enter Calais Channel Tunnel terminal
July 29 , 2015
One man was killed and others suffered injuries as about 1,500 migrants tried to enter the Calais Channel Tunnel terminal in a desperate bid to reach Britain, according to the Eurotunnel operator.
The incident, which is being described as the biggest such incursion in weeks, delayed train services, with passengers held up for an hour on the UK side and half an hour on the French side.
Migrants often try to get into the UK through the Eurotunnel, sometimes with tragic consequences.
The UK government has announced it would provide an additional $10.9 million to boost security at the Calais railhead.
