Malcolm Turnbull Forced Out; Scott Morrison is Australia's New PM

  • Australia PM Malcolm Turnbull has been ousted from the House after a leadership contest. However, he did not take part in the contest. He was under pressure from the revolting conservative MPs, poor performance in polls and an approaching election. Scott Morrison has taken the position of the outgoing PM Turnbull. Morrison claimed the position after winning 45-40 internal ballot, beating Peter Dutton, the former Home Affairs Minister. Mr. Morrison in the past has held portfolios such as social services and immigration.

Turnbull agreed to holding of the ballot after party MPs in majority signed a letter that calls for it.
