Luxembourg to Become First Country to Offer Free Transportation

  • To reduce some particular dense car traffic, the government of Luxembourg is offering free public transport system in the country. From Saturday, public transport in this country will be free, which will affect approximately 40% of households and save each one about 100 Euros per year. The decision is part of a broader measure to curb congestion in the city. As per French statistics, buses are used for only 32% of trips to work, and 19% for trains. However, in comparisons, 69% of workers in Paris use public transport.
