London solider murder suspect discharged from hospital
May 29 , 2013
A man shot and injured by police during last week’s murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in south London was discharged from hospital and moved into police custody on Tuesday.
Michael Adebowale, 22, was also arrested on a separate charge of attempted murder of a police officer.
The second murder suspect, 28-year-old Michael Adebolajo, remains in custody in hospital in stable condition.
Rigby, 25, was killed in broad daylight on Wednesday by the two men who attempted to behead him while shouting "God is greatest" in Arabic outside his barracks in Woolwich.
Police had earlier said the pair would be questioned after they have been discharged from hospital, adding that the time spent under arrest so far would not count towards the maximum amount of time they can legally be held without charge.
Both Adebowale and Adebolajo are Britons of Nigerian origin who are believed to have converted to Islam.
It was revealed on Sunday that Adebolajo was arrested in Kenya in 2010, as he was believed to have been getting ready to join the Somali militant group al-Shabab.
So far, eight other people have been arrested in connection with the attack with five having received bail and two being released without charge.
