London soldier murder suspect held in Kenya in 2010
May 27 , 2013
One of the two men held for the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in London was arrested in Kenya in 2010, the UK Foreign Office revealed on Sunday.
Michael Adebolajo received consular assistance seen "as normal" in the circumstances.
Adebolajo was believed to have been getting ready to join the Somali militant group al-Shabab, according to a Kenyan government spokesman. He was later deported.
Police investigating the murder have arrested a total of six people in relation to the case.
All have been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
Rigby was killed in broad daylight by two assailants who attempted to behead him while shouting "God is greatest" in Arabic outside his barracks in Woolwich on Wednesday.
