Libya: Mortar fire hits protesters in Benghazi, 6 killed
October 24 , 2015
At least six people were killed and about 35 injured when a crowd of protesters came under mortar fire in eastern Libya’s Benghazi city.
The people had gathered to protest against a UN-backed peace plan to form a new unity government.
According to the police, a district held by Islamist rebels was the origin of the mortar fire.
Benghazi has seen deadly clashes between government forces and Islamist and other militias in the past year.
