Leo Varadkar, the First Homosexual Prime Minister of Ireland, Elected Formally
June 15 , 2017
With his victory in the recent national elections, Leo Varadkar made history in Ireland by becoming the first openly gay, as well as the youngest Prime Minister of Ireland. He is the son of an Indian immigrant and this is what makes his victory even more special. The 38 year old was formally elected as Taoiseach at a ceremony of confirmation that was held at Dail in Dublin. It was earlier in June that he won the leadership of Fine Gael.
