Leftist party will lead German state government after historic agreement

  • Germany will see its first regional president from the far-left since the Berlin War came down and after Leftist parties agreed to become part of a coalition, media reports say.

According to the historic agreement, Die Linke party’s Bodo Ramelow is likely to become Thuringia state’s premier in December.

Die Linke has never led a state government after the end of communism though the socialist party has been part of many state governments in the country.
