Romero Juca, Brazil’s Planning Minister and a close ally of acting President Michel Temer, has stepped down following a new political scandal. According to media reports, leaked tapes implicated him of allegedly conspiring to hinder Brazil’s corruption investigation. The tapes were leaked by a newspaper. The minister appears talking about halting the probe at Petrobras, a leading oil company, by impeaching Dilma Rousseff, the suspended president of Brazil. Defending himself, Juca said that his comments have been taken out of context.
