    Great Britain’s Laura Trott (24 years old) won her third Olympic cycling gold medal along with Katie Archibald, Elinor Barker and Jo Rowsell-Shand to become the first British woman to win 3 gold medals. They created a new world record by finishing the race in 4 minutes and 10.23 seconds. In another ground breaking moment, Puerto Rico won its first gold medal as the debt-ridden country’s woman tennis player  Monica Puig stunned Germany’s Angelique Kerber 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to win gold medal in Rio.
