  • Kurdish Peshmerga forces snatch 11 Villages from ISIS

Kurdish Peshmerga reports that they have taken over 11 villages (located south-east of Mosul – de facto capital of ISIS in Iraq) from the ISIS militants. A Reuters correspondent, reporting from Wardak, said that as a part of US-led coalition’s concerted efforts of recapturing ISIS-stronghold Mosul, airstrikes and heavy shelling began early Sunday.  The troop is now heading towards their next target of operation, Gwer, located 25 miles south-east of Mosul. US envoy to the coalition, Brett McGurk, said that the coalitions’ offensive to reclaim Mosul is “approaching the final phase”.
