Knife Attack Suspect Arrested from Location near Ex-Charlie Hebdo Office in Paris

  • The main suspect of the Friday attack outside the former offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris has been arrested. An 18-year old person of Pakistani origin is the main suspect, who wounded two people with a meat cleaver. Prime Minister of France Jean Castex has told media at the crime scene (near Boulevard Richard-Lenoir) that the lives of both the wounded persons are out of danger. Police have detained 6 others and are questioning them. France’s Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin has called it “an act of Islamist terrorism”.  He went on to say that this is “the way the Islamist terrorists operate” and described the incident as “a new bloody attack against our country, against journalists”. While providing more information on the incident, Darmanin said that the main suspect of Pakistani nationality arrived in France 3-years back “as an isolated minor”.
