Kerry visits India to improve ties
July 29 , 2014
John Kerry, the US Secretary of State, is visiting Delhi as Washington seeks to improve ties with the world’s largest democracy, now under the leadership of prime minister Narendra Modi.
Relations between the two countries have been frosty after Devyani Khobragade, an Indian diplomat, was arrested.
Kerry, before starting his trip, said the two nations “should be indispensable partners for the 21st century”. He said the Modi government had won a “historic mandate” for change and reform.
