Kerry says US-Russia agreed to cooperate in Syria against Al Qaeda

  • Kerry says US-Russia agreed to cooperate in Syria against Al Qaeda

US Secretary of State John Kerry said that both USA and Russia had agreed to cooperate with each other in Syria, in an attempt to "restore the cessation of hostilities, significantly reduce the violence and help create the space for a genuine and credible political transition". Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who appeared along with Kerry before the press in Moscow, refused to divulge details of “the concrete steps” agreed upon. The move comes even as Pentagon challenges the idea of deepening US-Russia military cooperation as well as rifts at the highest levels of the Obama administration on the proposal.
