  • Kerry presses for Diplomatic ways to ease Tensions in South China Sea

With US Secretary of State John Kerry all set to attend meet of 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Laos’ capital Vientiane, he is likely to urge the countries to explore diplomatic ways for easing tensions with China on the issue of South China Sea. The ASEAN countries are highly divided on the issue. On July 12, Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has ruled that China has no historic title over South China Sea waters and China has angrily rejected the verdict. USA has made it clear that it wants the ASEAN countries to find a common ground on the issue.
