Juvenile convicted in Delhi Gang Rape
September 1 , 2013
The first conviction in the Delhi gang-rape case has come down but the result wouldn't satisfy the supporters of the victim. The teen guilty of raping and murdering the 23-year old in Delhi will spend three years in reform school and be set free after that. The assailant was 17 at the time of the crime and the victim's family said he was the most brutal of them all.
The mother of the victim insisted on him being hanged irrespective of his age. "He should be punished for what he did to my daughter," she said.
The other four men, who are facing the death penalty would get their verdicts next month. The sixth man had been found dead in his jail cell earlier this year.
This high profile case drew a heavy amount of attention to crimes against women in India.
