August 22 , 2014
Eric Holder, the United States attorney general, visited Ferguson in a bid to assure locals that justice would prevail in the killing of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown who was shot by police.
Holder, who also met Brown’s family, emphasized that the federal government was committed to upholding civil rights in cases like this.
Meanwhile, a grand jury has heard preliminary evidence about the August 9 incident in which Darren Wilson, a police officer, shot 18-year-old Brown six times, leading to his death and triggering several days of rioting in Ferguson.
