Jordan's military plane crashed over Syria; Pilot taken hostage by IS militants

  • One of the planes of Jordanian military crashed near the city of Raqqa in northern Syria on 24 December, as per the media reports. In a more serious development, the pilot of the plane was captured by the members of the Islamic State (IS). The terror group earlier claimed that it had gunned down the jet with a missile. According to the photographs published by IS, the Flight Lieutenant Moaz Youssef al-Kasasbeh was spotted among the militants. This is the first such event wherein a US-led coalition aircraft was lost on IS territory ever since the air strikes were launched in September.
