Johnson & Johnson to pay $55 million to consumer in talc-powder trial

A US jury has ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay $55 million to a woman who said that she developed ovarian cancer after using the company’s talc-powder products for feminine hygiene. According to media reports, Johnson & Johnson is already facing around 1,200 lawsuits which charge the company of not properly warning its consumers about the cancer risks of its talc-based products. The company plans to appeal against the verdict.
