Japan to mark fifth anniversary of devastating tsunami

Japan is observing the fifth anniversary of the devastating tsunami and earthquake that ravaged the country in 2011. More than 18,000 people were reported dead or missing in the disaster. 2:46pm (5:46 GMT), the country would observe a minute’s silence. According to media reports, the prime minister of the country Shinzo Abe and Emperor Akihito will offer flowers at a memorial ceremony in the capital Tokyo.
