Japan restarts first nuclear power reactor

  • Japan has once again started its first nuclear reactor. Restarted under new safety rules, this comes four years after the 2011 Fukushima disaster. Meltdowns at the Fukushima plant caused by the tsunami and earthquake had forced Japan’s nuclear plants to slowly shut down. According to media reports, Kyushu Electric Power, after passing new safety tests, restarted the reactor at its Sendai plant.
