Jamal Khashoggi disappearance: US and UK consider boycotting international conference in Saudi Arabia

  • Following the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist, the United States and Britain are planning to boycott a significant international conference that is to be held in Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi had disappeared on October 2 after visiting the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Khashoggi was a critic of the government of Saudi Arabia. According to media reports, the authorities in Istanbul are of the opinion that Saudi agents had killed Khashoggi; however, Saudi Arabia has termed the claims as lies.
