I've done no wrong, says Nicolas Sarkozy

  • Defending himself against allegations of corruption, the former French president Nicolas Sarkozy hit out at both the ruling Socialist government and judges, calling the accusations “grotesque”.

“To all those watching and listening, I want to say that I have never betrayed their confidence,” he told the French people, appearing on television. “I have never committed an act against republican principles or the law.”

Sarkozy, who is said to be making a political comeback, said that no evidence had been found against him and he had nothing to be ashamed of.
