Italy has given green light to form a populist coalition government

  • Both the populist parties of Italy were finally given a green signal to form a coalition government on Thursday after the attempts to form a technocratic government had failed. The coalition will be headed by Giuseppe Conte, a little-known law professor. Ministers have been picked from both the anti-establishment Five Star (M5S) and the right-wing League. The new government will be sworn in on Friday ending the political crisis which has gripped the country for nearly three months.
