Italy ferry fire: More than 160 people still stranded off Greek island

  • More than 160 passengers are still awaiting rescue as they remain stranded on the deck of the burning Italian ferry off the Greek island of Corfu. According to official reports, 316 of the 478 people on board were successfully evacuated by early Monday. Smoke and strong winds have reportedly affected the rescue operation. Most of the rescued passengers were transferred to nearby ships and some were taken to hospital. The ferry Norman Atlantic was traveling from Patras in Greece to Ancona in Italy when it caught fire in the wee hours on Sunday. (Where is Italy)
