Israel targets Hamas sites in southern Gaza
May 7 , 2016
Two Hamas sites in southern Gaza were attacked by Israeli aircraft in response to a cross-border rocket attack from Gaza strip. The sites attacked have a huge terror base, though no casualties were reported. The rocket and air strikes have been one of the worst cases of violence since 2014 that had left 2251 Palestinians and 73 Israelis dead. The tiff between Israel and Palestine and militants has raised concerns of Hamas-run territory turning into a war zone. Ismail Haniya, Hamas’ leader in Gaza, said that though the organization does not intend to initiate a new war but it would not tolerate incursions made by Israel into the Palestinian enclave.
