Israel may have committed war crimes, says United Nations

  • The United Nations (UN) has stated that Israel’s Gaza offensive that has killed hundreds of Palestinian civilians in two weeks may amount to war crimes.

The UN voted to launch an international probe on the issue, a move opposed by the United States, with 17 countries abstaining from the votes.

The UN high commissioner for human rights Navi Pillay said that there "seems to be a strong possibility that international law has been violated” in Israel’s Gaza assault.
