Israel air strike destroys Gaza's power plant
July 30 , 2014
At least 100 Palestinians were killed and Gaza’s sole power plant destroyed in deadly Israeli air strikes.
Amnesty International said the destruction of the power plant was akin to “collective punishment of Palestinians.”
Gaza’s residents were already facing severe power cuts before the power plant was hit. The Gaza energy authority said they would require at least a year to repair the plant, turbines, fuel tanks, and control room.
More than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed in the conflict so far. Around 182,000 civilians in Gaza have sought shelter in UN premises.
