Isis leader in Libya killed in US airstrike: Pentagon
November 15 , 2015
The leader of the Islamic State (Isis) in Libya has been killed in a US airstrike, according to the Pentagon.
The slain militant was identified as the Iraqi national Abu Nabil, who had a long association with the al-Qaida. The Pentagon said his death “will degrade [Islamic State’s] ability to meet the group’s objectives in Libya”.
Pentagon's press secretary Peter Cook said the operation to target the militant leader “was authorized and initiated prior to the terrorist attack in Paris”.
