ISIS is on the Brink of Territorial Defeat in Syria

  • The US battle commander said on Saturday that the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are all set to capture the last stronghold of ISIS ‘caliphate’. The SDF commander Jiya Furat said that the remaining ISIS militants have been cornered in the Baghouz village near the border of Iraq. He went on to say that the world will come to know about the “military end of Daesh”, the Arabic acronym of ISIS. Jiya Furat’s announcement came a day after the US President Donald Trump said that “great announcements” are about to come from Syria. Reports say Islamic State militants still hold influence in the remotest desert of central Syria. Most of the ISIS terrorists have gone underground after the heavy assault from the US and other Western forces. However, their territorial rule is almost over.
