Iraq: Car bomb targets Shia district in Baghdad, 20 killed
July 23 , 2015
At least 20 people were killed in a car bomb blast that targeted a marketplace in a Shia-dominated district of Baghdad. About 50 people are said to be wounded in the blast that hit the southwestern Shurta neighborhood of the Iraqi capital. No group has claimed responsibly for the bombing so far, but Islamic State militants have targeted the Shia community in the past.
Last week’s blast in Khan Bani Saad town that killed over 100 people was reportedly carried out by the Islamic State.
