Iran should halt nuclear activity for 10 years: Obama

  • US president Barack Obama has said that for a nuclear deal to be clinched, Iran should agree to a 10-year freeze on nuclear work at the very least.

He, however, admitted that the odds were still stacked against such a landmark deal.

Obama’s comments came ahead of Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming speech before the US Congress in which the Israeli Prime Minister is expected to speak against the Iran agreement.

Obama said that Netanyahu, in the past, had made “all sorts of claims” about the deal, which had not come true.
