Iran nuclear deal does not prevent 'military option': US defense secretary
July 20 , 2015
US defense secretary Ashton Carter has said that the nuclear deal struck with Iran does not prevent the use of military action to thwart possible Iranian attempts to develop a nuclear bomb. Carter, who is on a tour to the Middle East, made the comments on his way to Israel.
The US is trying to assuage the concerns of its ally Israel, which has been very critical of the nuclear agreement.
Carter indicated that the deal does “nothing to prevent” the military option, but only removes an element of “danger, threat and uncertainty” from the volatile region.
